How exciting, A real life American Boy Adventure!

15 is so young to leave home; I can empathize with Mama Ollie...

The lure of adventure Hurzel must have felt this pull. It was an early age though to leave his present home and travel with those rough riders of the rail. Sorry Taps seen it on the films so I can guess what it was like probably. I like this sequence.

The train has been a rich part of American history. Some condominium developments today are built along the survivng Amtrak tracks while my neighborhood rejected a 70 year old small railroad for safety, following a derailed car spill (Perhaps they needed a new one or the area outgrew the commercial need. Although my work destination along the route could use alternate transportation?) love.

You are creating a masterful tapestry, with strands showing the whole era and those of your family's lives...I can understand how Hursel succumbed to the lure of the trains; I felt the lure of ships, but didn't hire on as a cabin boy, as I often dreamed of...

It is good how the community was there to support one another during such a sad time when so many were in need.

So tough it is when we lose our family members.

Seems to be a pattern, youngsters taking off without a word...

I can just see all this story in movies in my head. Amazing!
