It does seem that death was a present companion in this saga. A sad tale really but true to the time. Liked your poem , carefully written and so gentle.

what a beautiful poem and life is a harsh reality. I just thought that your Grandparents were settled and then very quickly so much changed.

I really like your poem! And as to the events in Ben's and Ollie's lives - just when I thought they had overcome adversity, there's the twin blow of the devastating fire and the death of a child - very sad...But you're certainly telling it all masterfully...
