I am loving this particular post even more because of the memories of family vacations visiting Hot Springs and skiing and camping all over Arkansas, especially on Lake Oachita....so beautiful, I know I wrote a post years ago about memories of sleeping on its banks and skiing on earling morning water of glass; I can close my eyes now and smell the fresh mountain air.  And years later, I have memories of riding on Amtrak through the Oachita Mountains through the far eastern edge of Oklahoma as I traveled from Kansas City down to Henderson, Texas to see my grandparents....the tracks pushing through lush forest as I lay back in my bed with a bandaged knee and imagined the Indians and Pioneers who traversed these trails in years past.

Nice writing I can see them. Lovely stories of your ancestors. I guess the baby didn't live either. Sad but strong the people of that day were.

I think I would have called it a day, but obviously they were looking for adventure or just wandering lost in thoughts.

I've been through Hot Springs. Lovely place.

And you bring back some wonderful memories with the young Ben's singing and playing "Danny Boy." One of our family's keynote songs, too.  I am loving this whole story, Taps, thank you so much for writing it.

One has to admire B.A.'s spirit...And you are painting a picture of that Arkansas valley that one is tempted to saddle one's horse get behind the wheel and drive down to visit and enjoy it...
