Being a citizen takes work!
As usual Katray you are right on target! It is hard for journalists to stand up to the power and greed of Bush and his corporate cronies. In addition to Amanpour, there was a female reporter named Banfield who was headed for big things with NBC until she started questioning things the rightwing didn't want her to, now she's disappeared. There have also been rightwing talk show hosts on radio who have been critical of Bush's financial recklessness and they too have been fired or removed from their jobs.
The Bush censors are out there but I don't think they will be able to muzzle all of the media in 2004. At least I hope not!

Good post!!
Christiane Amanpour, CNN journalist covering the Iraq war in the beginning, had some very interesting insights on media muzzling. Go to the Guardian Unlimited ( I tried to link their site but couldn't ) for her experiences. I think fear (Christiane was fearless, wonder where she is today??) is some of the problem for journalists, along with the corporate ownership and control of mainstream media. Those of us who realize how badly we're being deceived can still (Thank God!!) search and trawl the Internet for real news. Sadly, too many American's don't seem to have the inclination, time or interest to do this, so they believe what they hear on the nightly news. A very troubling situation.
