Nice looking veggies and cantaloupe. Fresh catfish sounds good too, with the beans.

Love blueberries, we will not be seeing them up here for a long while yet.

Jeansaw

You're doing well on your own, and I admire you. I lived alone for about 8 years before Kabu and I fell in love and I love the togetherness at 79. If you come north to Ottawa come and see us.

Re: cct

that's interesting about the houses and barn to be used as storage, were they looking to buy or to rent????  here in the u.s. it is a big business now called a reverse mortgage.  but i think it is just a way to buy houses cheap. my neighbor tells me he does not have insurance, but he is much younger and could start all over if his house blew away or burned down.  i feel like i need home insurance, car insurance and final expenses insurance.

Re: kabu

part of what i did was think about what i really wanted for the rest of my life.  and taking care of a large home and 4 acres is something i can say i do not want to do. if i had a small home and1 acre then i might be able to do what i want.  to have a small garden and a few chickens.  that would leave time for the other things i enjoy. so right now i know what i dont want and i am trying to figure out what i do want.

Sadly insurance is a killer these days Jean. So many firms trying things on if that think they can squeeze money from doing it. Funny thing I saw an advert in my farming journal today. A firm wanted houses and large barns presumably to modernize and turn into depots for storing goods that would be distributed from there to customers. I suppose so much is being bought on line that this demand has arisen.

You continue to keep busy, and it is wonderful how much peace you are feeling.

sweetie, I find over the last couple of years that I have slowed down on what I can do and we have has to pend money this summer on getting others to do anything at all heavy outside because we just can't manage it. I do understand if the home farm idea is too difficult. I know that it would be for me.
