that's great...the way you speak freely and then give yourself a little beating at the end for good measure

Voice???

Well I really thought it would be easy to do a "free write."  I attended a 6 week writing institute this past summer in the lovely Santa Barbara.  They had us free write, and I was shocked at how much inner dialogue I had with myself, how much self editing I did.  I couldn't believe all the self incrimination I pounded myself with.  Wow!  I kept wanting to edit, stop and cross out, re-do as I went, etc.  That damn inner voice has always impeded me.  I kept wanting to write "something good."  Or make sure it had a "topic," a focus.  That's what I mean when I say it was difficult to freely write.  I love to write, writing is in my blood, but I didn't realize until I formally wrote a free write how much crapola I told myself when I wrote.  I worried about Spelling, grammar, is this going to be "good enough" to read aloud, etc.

I guess now that I am aging (quite gracefully I  might ad) I don't give a damn if anyone approves anymore.  It is so freeing!!!!!!!!!!!  Gee, did I spell freeing right?????

I love reading your "crap".
And I do want to hear your pain and read your stories.  And, finally, no I do not find it hard to write freely.  I find it hard NOT to write freely.

well jb, we are always aware, like it or not, of certain rules of the game.
But like you said, it's best to forge ahead and correct later.  love scriber.
