Sounds like you are having a great time V. Those guys sure know how to make their own amusement. What happened to the lady you were friendly with who was already kind of engaged or what ever they do in these parts?

Fat and fifty a hick does not make. Perhaps it is that his delivery of speech etc. is different than yours but you see you like that State so there is some good in what you may feel is backward. I don't like it when people come here and talk about loving the place but laugh at the people. The place is the people.

It's characters like the brother that make life interesting, I think....those who aren't the usual. And your comment about people moving to an area and trying to change the culture there is spot on....irritates me no end. You should hear native Texans talk about how folks came down here, esp to Houston with the space program years ago and then it happened with the second Silicon Valley stuff...many followed because they hated their taxes and crime rates, etc,etc....and then started trying to change everything here to be like what they had there...most of which led to the problems they had there - duh! Love it or leave it...every state has its culture for a reason. Most of your Vt folks are probably really only 'hicks' to people who don't know squat about Vt!
