I was scrolling through fb when I saw some woman with a rifle standing over a giraffe she had hunted and killed.  I was sickened by the image.

Great post.  No one should think, or speak of themselves in the "just" mode.  It is great to be alive and doing.

Excellent post, as usual.  Funny enough, I fairly recently wrote a post about the word 'just' for different reasons, but same effect.  As to the issues you raise, I do a lot of thinking and stewing around things of this nature, quite frankly.  Not because I disagree in my heart with anything you say, because I absolutely do not.....but because I always tend to think that people step up on that platform and speak only with passion about only this one side of what man is doing to 'Nature' - I will use this term as a convenience.  I cannot, in my mind think of that side without thinking of all the tinkering that man does with all what 'we' seem to have decided to call 'good' with 'Nature'.  I don't see the difference if I just look at it....I mean changing 'nature'  is changing 'nature'...a rose by any other name.

Bonnie who helps me just turned 83 and has never been sick a day in her life and can work circles around me; she has yet to be, and based on her 8 or so remaining siblings, probably won't be much of a burden emotionally or financially on her family or society.  My mom is about to turn 87 and is 100% pacemaker dependent and full of metal...she is early Alzheimer's and has very good private insurance, thank goodness, and with the pacemaker will probably spend years in a facility costing gobs and gobs...and I am not the type to just warehouse her and walk away as many I know have done with their folks.  The emotional cost on our family has already been....well, awful.  I don't wish my mother dead....but, fact is, she wasn't meant by 'nature' to be alive right now....not since that pacemaker went in in her late 70's.  Would I have stopped it....hell, no!  We have the technology.....what have we created, though?

It is almost epidemic....because we have intervened so much with 'nature'....doing what we judged to be good and right.....and there were plenty of bucks and jobs made along the way, still being churned out daily if you look at all the youth obsessed and health obsessed sites and articles, books and tapes.  I'm not so sure the zombie movies are all that far off from a future reality!LOL!

I didn't get the book at birth that gave me the right answers about what is good, what is bad, when enough is enough in keeping old folks going, creating families on demand, choosing genders, correcting defects in the womb...........and which end of the spectrum of messing with nature is really any worse than the other.  That is my quandry in issues like this....and why I just don't usually get on the platform.  I just don't think you can get passionate about just one end of the see-saw and not look at that other one over there....it's hanging in the air, just as likely to slap someone inthe face as any other........but I do applaud the heart of the issues you raised.

wow loving it.Quite the write. Needs publishing to a larger audience. Of course you know where I stand with this, except that I believe nature is governed by the creator of the Universes and the order of things way beyond our comprehension.

I do agree that no matter when we destroy the earth as we know it, it will continue on in some form very nicely without us. The nature of the Universe the creator is for order out of chaos. We cause chaos here, we can eliminate ourselves.

Reading your entry reminds me of the impact that words have.
