Re: Re: adnohr

I figured that if you thought about it for a bit, you'd come up with a solution - which you certainly did!

Re: wiley

i got so excited when i read this post, i will go to auto store tomorrow and ask them for the carb cleaner.  then i will call my son to put it in the carb and i am in business.  i made an appointment to have the mower picked up today, the man that does it has the flu, so he will not be picking it up till next week, by then if i can fix it with the cleaner i can call and cancel the apt and save myself some money.... and the sharpening of the blade i will swallow my pride and ask a neighbor to help me with it.  thanks, i just need some direction from time to time.

Re:krisles

thanks i will take care i have to because it is only me now.  if they , the neighbors , do not like my best i will tell them they are free to come over and make it look like they want it to look.

Re: adnohr

ben is such a nice young man and his sister did a super job with lucy......i would not feel right to have paid her and not him  as young people need a little money....so i have decided to tell him i cant afford more than 2 hours a week help and give him 20.00....it will not be mowing because it is easy for me to do but he will have to help me with things that needs a little strength.

Just put on your stern farmer lady face and tell them you are doing your own work. $60.00 to sharpen a blade or two and cleaning the carburetor is ridiculous, especially when you can get liquid cleaner and dump it in the carb with the gas for next to nothing. Pay $20.00 to the guy asking $60.00 maybe and even that is pushing it. The neprew that wants his kid paid to do it, well don't get me going.LOL

I'm with those who advise just straight talk....we're all in this world together and doing the best we can.  You are doing the best you can and have to take care of yourself as best you can and that is all you need explain....and do please take care of yourself.

I think you should simply explain your finances as well. He should understand. I too would never bother to hire anyone to mow my lawn. It is wonderful exercise and gets you out in the sun . . .

I also actually enjoy mowing.

That's reason enough to do it yourself. You don't owe him or his son employment.

It is hard when the money is tied. You have to let him know.

I'm with Justi. Just tell him the truth. Maybe he'll offer to do it for nothing?

If you don't mind mowing do it yourself and save money. And, where was he when

you needed other help. Good luck and don't hurt yourself over doing it.

Maybe you should tell him like you did us. That was your last money and you don't hve an coming. The truth is usually the best way to go.

One thing at a time...one step at a time...it all will work out..big hugs

well I never...he cameover and told you to get mowing cos the grass was getting to grow. Where are those bees. Now I love bees but I could put one where his Mother never kissed him and order it to sting. Do es he know that you have to work at your own pace these days because SOME of us LIKE um ME think that you are precious and need to be cared for a little. OK you like to mow and so do I but I know that I have to pace myself.

It gets tricky where family is involved - maybe you can tell him you need the exercise, LOL...Oh, and you'll never hear from me to run for the hills...
