It is also known as conjunctivitis. What happens is that the eye turns pink or red, and there can be a yellowy, crusty discharge. It can be painful and/or annoying.

Well, was there any doubt you would do a good job?! I am always surprised at how often someone gets Pink Eye at work...seems like it happens to someone at least yearly. I don't know if they get it from a kid or not; I always thought of it as a childhood disease. I do think it's supposed to be highly infectious (?) so good thing she stayed home.
