I don't know that I have a favorite for poetry, but I just watched a PBS special on sloths and loved it and it makes me want to write a poem or story or something about that....so fascinating are they.

My favorite animal subject for poetry would probably be any member of the cat family - tiger, cougar, lion, kitty, panther, etcetera....  I'm curious after reading your impressive haiku demonstrating the Japanese syllable thingy you explained - when they translate a haiku written in English into Japanese, do they then follow the English rules for syllable counting?  I mean, it only seems logical that they would....so their words look as awkward to them as our words do to us changed to fit their rules.  Hmmm, not sure I made sense there...I really do have a question that I'm trying to ask.....

I don't think they should stop the elephant acts....perhaps they should have one large elephant specialty troupe that is like an educational/entertainment event that people can go to and learn about elephants and the purpose is to really treat the elephants to special treatment and training, protect them....a win/win.  I don't know but I can't believe there isn't an answer.

I'm afraid I'm really not into poetry, so I can't say I have one . . .
