Good for you.  I, too, came from a time and a family that shared stories a lot, and saved lots of letters and photos so I know a lot of my family history...plus I have a tape of interviewing my mom on a road trip I took with her; wish I had the same with my dad.  I came here to write blogs that would record my thoughts and stories for my grandchildren after I wasn't satisfied with the books you can buy for that purpose and knew I'd never write just a single book.  More power to you and I'll look forward to reading it.

Such a great post and I do think one reason people are writing down their story for their CHildren is that life is frantic these days and kids don't sit around listening to family stories anymore. Families are smaller and fragmented.

I will just say to you dear friend as a Mother of Sons who are now men with teenagers, there are some things that I would never tell them no matter how much they asked.

I understand completely, although my circumstances are a bit different. I don't have any children, so I really don't have anyone to pass 'a story' onto. I also wish I had asked more questions of my father's life before he passed away ten years ago. But, I did write a book basically about my life, "The Hindering," that came about because of one particular incident ( a bad one ). Whatever it takes, start writing now . . .

Rasse

A good start and has even made this old man think about it myself. Keep on going with your story, you're a nice writer,

Well Rasse strangely enough I know most of my parents history. Probably because when  I was young there were no other forms of entertainment and folk told tales and stories.

I think it is a splendid idea, so many children today have no conception of how their parents became adults, Good Luck
