I have to tell you I laughed so hard at the start of your story I sprayed coffee on my screen! I mean, this read like a tv comedy where it's an obvious situation with the older lady, a recent widow, and the three strong young men doing the typical (well, I guess not in NJ!) neighborly thing of pitching in to help her - and then the comic relief zings in with the "Duh, are we gonna get paid for this?"  It was classic!  I am enjoying your story so much and you are really taking us there with your picturesque descriptions.  Your love for the area shines through.

If only I were young Vermount, it sounds like an old film

running slowly. I don't think you really expected to be paid

did you? No, But I do agree it would have been nice to

have stacked the wood in an appealling fashion.

A block of wood here these days and I don't mean

a round block but one that has been split several times

is at least 50p 2 blocks £1. Be lucky.

Vermont 01

I love chopping and the stacking of wood, it's kind of the area I live in, no close-by neignours.
