Re: jimmy

my pile is so large it must have encouraged animals to burrow in, but i will definitely make sure they are not harmed.

Re: ipp

it is nice having a wood burning stove, but i could not use it for fear of burning a nest and maybe one with something in it.  so i will wait till next winter and have a chimney sweep come and check it out.

Re: cct

we have to call in before we burn and make sure it is not to dry.  i will be burning in a hole that we dug for a pond so that helps but the big issue is the wind, must be a day without wind.

Re: kabu

i have planned it out start a small fire and move the brush into the fire when its needed to keep it going.  just have to have the water hose ready.

I agree with Naut. Please be absolutely sure there are no critters of any kind in there before you set a torch to it! And although that lifestyle of just hanging out in a nest somewhere waiting to be fed may sound somewhat appealing, I still don't think you'd actually care for those worms! Yuck! . . .

There is a poem that is very old that talks about "I think I'll just go eat worms".  Haha  I would love to have a fire in a fireplace.  We have gas logs.  Not the same.  All the same you are very sweet to think about the little one's.  Kinda like St. Peter.

Here have a nice juicy worm Jean. I think it would be better to get someone to help you to burn that bush give it a good bashing at the same time, I suppose it is the time of year to do it before the birds start nesting. I like a good fire ,but it is a kind of fire restricted zone around here.

Jean

Yes, I would definitely wait with burning down your brush! If you can't do it yourself, get someone to check and make sure there are no kittens and there's no other wildlife...

I meant to write roasting

I am so with you in thinking. The thought of raosting babies or squirrels or anything dying because of me makes me feel ill. You may need some help to move that brush, and burn it.
