Re:

It was such a tragedy, C C T, for that girl to not only think it wise and worth the risk, but also to let someone else talk her into it. Again, I hope others learn a valuable lesson from this. And when you say it was best to choose a 'softie,' were you referring to the partner, or the dance floor surface . . . ?

It seems almost madness, to want to mutilate ones young body, just to follow a ridiculous fashion. One cannot really blame the young lady, she probably did not understand that something like this carries a certain risk.

I suppose a good many may have  been knocked  halfway  across the dance hall floor  when that old song was sung .Hands knees and  bumps a daisy. It was best to choose a softie.

Re: Jimmy

I suppose, Naut, it would depend on who's doing the bumping, and which direction you're facing at the time! It can be fun, of course, but apparently, it can be dangerous as well! However, since I don't dance at all, I don't think it will ever be an issue for me . . .

Re:

He is an Aussie indeed, Vermont, and apparently, he's "still got it!" I have a feeling that many of the women in that audience would have loved to have bumped into his behind! That's part of the fun, isn't it?

Re: JimmyA

It's crazy out there sometimes, Sir Wiley. People really need to pay attention! That second woman probably wasn't even deserving of her "day in court." But the family of that beauty queen should have theirs! Like I said . . . crazy!

Re:

True and true, Annicita. A sad ending on the first one, and I suppose a somewhat happy 'ending' on the second . . .

Re:

That's what she deserved, Kabu! Something tells me the original law suit didn't really have much merit to it in the first place. But, since she filed, the courts have no choice but to follow up on it ( even though TEN years had passed! ) As for that young girl, you're right. Those doctors probably only saw dollar signs, and no potential danger! How many other young women suffered similar fates that we just never heard about . . . ?

Re: Even the prettiest little girls have body image issues, and liposuction

I totally agree, Pat. The actual details of that on-stage incident were sketchy, but I'm sure there was a crowd and, like Mr. Springfield said, he didn't even remember bumping into anyone. Fortunately, that one was dismissed with hardly a ripple. As for that young beauty queen, I was somewhat amazed that those 'snake oil salesmen' were actually able to convince her to go ahead with the procedure! Someone ( a family member perhaps ) should have talked her out of it. A terrible shame . . .

Re:

Nor me, FSI. I believe, years ago, the courts were simply inundated with frivolous lawsuits. But certain legislation has passed making it more difficult for people to file for these things, thus uncluttering the courts. And yes, it was a shame about that young girl! Hopefully others will learn from her 'mistake' . . .

Jimmy

I've been butt-bumped at dances occasionally, but it never seemed very dangerous, and occasionally quite interesting, actually...

You just reminded me of another famous Aussie, Rick Springfield.

Weird cases is all I can say, ruined a girls life in one and others didn't add up as legal including the liposuction.

how tragic on the first one and how pathetic on the second

what a shame that such a beautiful youngster couldn't see herself as she really was and of course those plastic people are really truly bottom feeders...and talking of Bottoms which we weren't....what the %&*& was the woman doing on stage and ten years ago???? glad she got what she deserved. Nothing.

docs and others who do nip-tuck plastic surgery to perfect the creature are snake oil salesmen of the worst sort, IMO.  As for the Rick Springfield thing - if the woman was on his stage during a performance when it happened, she could just as well have been charged with trespassing or undue approach, and the statute of limitations for such silliness shoulda been six weeks or so.

That is a shame about  Catherine Cando Cornejo. It does not make sense to me either that was the prize money...Some lawsuits out there never cease to amaze me.
