Re:

Thanks, adnohr! It's funny how none of these stories ever makes it onto the actual news networks! Ya gotta find them wherever you can! Although there's a slight possibility that one or more of these stories could turn out to have been bullshit, or at least greatly exaggerated, they're still fun to pass on . . .

Re: JimmyA

I heard a rim shot with that one, Sir Wiley! I think it would have been even more bizarre if the parrot had started out speaking Spanish and then ended up with a British accent! Pass me a taco . . .

Re:

Thanks, Kabu. I've been finding a lot of these types of stories lately. And the weirder they are, the more fun they are to share!  Will they ever discover the owner of those bones? Perhaps. If I come across any follow-up story to this, I'll be sure to share that too . . .

Re: Jimmy

You're absolutely right, Naut. He was trying to cure the headache by cutting off the head! They could have done a hundred different things to remove the cigarette aspect and continue on with the show! Ridiculous . . .

Re:

That sounds a bit rash, doesn't it, FSI? I mean, they weren't burning down an orphanage or killing baby seals! And by today's standards, it seems even more absurd! In fact, I think today, many people look upon cigarette smoking as just a nasty habit as opposed to some kind of 'evil doings!' Bizarre thinking, but what are ya gonna do?

Great collection! And I don't understand the general manager of the opera comapany, he is an idiot! All he had to do have Carmen work in an outfit producing something else! Chewing gum, auto parts, condoms, toilet paper, smart phones, potato chips...the list is endless!

The operea Carmen getting dropped because it depicts smoking really stood out to me. Back when I was in fifth grade, my school would take a trip to a nearby high school to watch its yearly musical. It was Bye Bye, Birdy and one of the scenes started with a student lighting up a cigarette. Miz Rayleen was so offended the yearly trip ended.
