Re: Jimmy

You may be right, Naut, about the kind of party Porsche may hold in the Sistine Chapel. But once word gets out that the place is for rent for such events, it will probably only be a matter of time before disco balls are dangling next to Adam and God! And of course, no one is forcing those barbecue patrons to even get a tattoo at all, pig-themed or otherwise. But, as we all know, all it will take is for one drunken slob to wake up the next morning scarred for life with Miss Piggy on his chest, and that place will be closed permanently due to lawyer fees from the upcoming lawsuit . . .

Jimmy

As to #1: I doubt very much Porsche is going to hold that kind of 'concert' at the Sistine Chapel! How much you wanna bet that it will be a sit-down affair where people are going to listen to a superb orchestra playing wonderful classical music?

As to #2: The tattooing is nuts, of course. But if people want to do nutty things, who am I to stop them, LOL...

Re:

Now that would be something, C C T. However, I don't think Pope Francis is that hip! I think everyone understands how practically everything today is 'money-driven.' But you would think that some things would remain revered and sacred, and be above reproach when it came to the almighty dollar ( or pound, in some cases ). But I suppose anything is 'for sale' these days! No, my tattoo days are long over ( both of mine were applied over 30 years ago ). But if I did break down and decide to get another one, something 'pig-themed' would probably be the furthest thing from my mind . . .

Re: JimmyA

I totally agree, Sir Wiley. I have no problem with reducing the amount of visitors or adding special lighting and equipment to prolong the life of the paintings. But renting the place out for corporate parties? That's crossing a line somewhere . . .

Re:

I understand, Kabu. But I don't think your opinion is based solely on your age. I have two tattoos myself, but they're not huge and unsightly, and both are on my right arm ( one is a heart and the other is a rose ). I never got into that particular style of almost completely covering both arms with tattoos up and down. It is ugly ( especially on a girl! ) As for your "six of one . . . " retort, you're right. Both stories ( and concepts ) are unusually weird . . .

Re:

It is indeed, Bill. That's why I say, why not simply combine the two and open a tattoo parlor/ pig-roast restaurant right inside the Vatican! Everybody wins . . . I think.

Re:

So it appears, FSI, that it is somewhat difficult to actually say which is the weirder of the two! Of course, they're both weird in their own way! And your notion about sponsors someday appearing next to the Stations of the Cross may soon be coming to a church near you! Don't be surprised . . .

Don't know Jimmy it seems that places of worship are being turned into more lucatrive

prospects, after all in the Church a few donations by the worshipers hardly pays for lighting I would think. I'll go for the tattoos, depends where they put them. Sorry I am not really surprised by anything these days, Perhaps the Pope will have Miss Piggy on his chest.

Leave the Sistine Chapel alone I say.

six of one and half a dozen of the other ...I think the tatoo craze has gone nuts. People cover themselvs with body art. For me it is ugly...but then I am old.LOL

It's mix and match Jimmy.

Two wacky things going on there. At the rate the Vatican is going, each Station of the Cross will have a sponsor next to it.

A pig tatoo sounds like a bad idea to get.
