I do not imagine his production will be enough to warrant him at first, and if he ends up there, it does not say much about the offense.
Also, when they can, teams prefer lefties at first. If they can find someone of roughly equal offensive talent, the dominant hand of the player is what determines first.

Perhaps, if, for nothing else, to maintain both his versatility and his 'staying-power.' Many infielders can play at any base ( remember, A-Rod was a short-stop for many years with both Seattle and Texas before being moved to third when he joined the Yanks ). If he can play first, why not? However, I still think he'll probably be ping-ponging between DH and third . . .
