I  enjoyed your post. I believe that if each and everyone of us  followed our highest  ideal of morality that  we have within ourselves instead of following a book or what another says  we would be better off as a race. After all we all have a sense  of what is right and wrong.

Gandalf said it best

"Do not tempt me any further, for with this ring (of power) I would desire to do great good, but through me, it would wield a power so terrible. . ."

And, yes, we don't know the outcome of anything that is happening now, we only see the present.  There are some who can foresee where the path might lead and try and take action for good--but it is hard to convince others who only want to see one outcome and not options, like the return of a promised savior.  I've thought that the bible was a "good" book, until I looked at it from the perspective of where we are today and what can happen if we remain divided and looking for the evil out there.  If we look for it we will find it.

A very good post -- I hope others will read it and consider what they think is good and evil.  People are not born evil, they become that way through greed and lust for power over others--the god complex--
