Re:

Probably a good call, chuck! And I was also somewhat surprised that there weren't more 'steakhouses' on that list! That doesn't mean they're not overly popular, of course! But somehow, people like their Mexican . . .

Re:

Perfectly understandable, C C T. I honestly don't know what kind of 'varieties' of eateries there may be in merry ol' England, but something tells me that Mexican ( apparently the most popular here ) wouldn't be on any of those lists! French cuisine, perhaps?

Re: JimmyA

I don't blame you at all, Sir Wiley. I'm not really into 'spicy' foods either. Once in a blue moon my wife and I may have something like tacos, but only if we can control the ingredients actually going into it! Otherwise, all bets are off . . .

Re:

I hope not, Kabu! That would really make this list more confusing than it already is! I always considered 'pub food' more along the lines of burgers, simple sandwiches and bar pies, which were more or less removed from this equation. But, whatever pub food is comprised of, it's apparently very popular . . .

Re:

I agree, FSI. Many of those surprised me too. You can almost understand the states that border or are nearer to Mexico having a high percentage of Mexican restaurants. But as you travel further north and/or east, you would think they would be more widely dispersed. Interesting, huh?

Re: Jimmy

Good question, Naut, and I'm not really sure what the answer is! Since America is made up of so many different cultures, who's to say what 'American' cuisine actually is anymore? But remember, pizza and burger joints were taken out of the equation, and I'm not sure what that leaves us with . . .

For me, some of those that had Mexican surprised me. Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. I pictured more BBQ or steakhouses in those places. I do not know enough about Utah, though to say.

Jimmy

Surprising indeed! I guess there's no longer such a thing as 'American', is there?
