Re:

Believe it or not, mneme, I stopped wearing a watch a long time ago as well. Between having a cell phone with you that always shows the time, and being somewhere amongst various people, there will always be some way of finding out what time it is! It's just frustrating, and confusing, sometimes to have several time pieces surrounding you that all say a different time . . .

Re:

But at least, C C T, you're making the effort to actual carry a 'time piece' with you! Just imagine if pocket watches were still in fashion! How would you explain that huge, square bulge in your vest . . . ?

Not me Jimmy ... I don't even wear a watch any more .. and my car loses three minutes a week, but no more. Odd.

I just look on the computer Jimmy. It is a bit heavy though on my wrist.

Re: nah

That's it, Bill? Just nah? You're not even going to look at your watch and/or clocks, eh? Are they all that far apart? It's okay! I don't think anyone really knows what time it is anyway . . .

Re:

Well, Kabu, as long as you're within a few minutes of whatever you're trying to do and not a few hours! I always try to give myself 'extra time' to do certain things, and it helps to have at least two clocks within a few minutes of each other! Otherwise, I've just gotta guess . . .

Re:

I know what you mean, Justi, I really do. The clock in our office is one of the loudest 'clicking' clocks you've ever heard, and I'm not even sure why we still have it! And you actually have three clocks that are in sync? How'd ya manage that . . . ?

Re:

But are they really, lovelylady? Off by three minutes of each other, or the actual time? See? That's my quandary! What is the actual time? Regardless, like I wrote, I'm not about to wander around my house, trying to sync up all the clocks! I'd rather just guess . . .

Re: JimmyA

I don't blame you, Sir Wiley! So I guess what it actually says on any of your clocks is really irrelevant. As long as you're not late for dinner . . .

Re:

That's true, shamasehar, although we should be merely hours apart and not minutes! In other words, whether you're 8, 10 or 12 hours behind me ( or ahead of me ) the 'minutes' should be the same! But they seem to bounce around all over the place! That's why I now have to assume that all time is subjective . . .

Re:

I have a feeling, FSI, that we all ballpark it, in one form or another! I almost forgot that I have a clock in my car too, and it also appears to be running on its own time table! And then when you throw Day-Light Savings Time into the mix . . .

Re: Jimmy

Well, Naut, even without the philosophical aspect of the concept of time, I would still like the bulk of my clocks to be at least within a minute of each other, even if they're all way off! I worry more about symmetry, consistency and uniformity than I do about being late for something . . .

being our WSiley's wife, I let him worry about what the time actually is and as you read he's not really the guy to follow...but Oh well!!!!

My TV box, computer and cell phone all show the same time. I no longer have any clocks that tick. I hate a ticking clock, loll.

Jimmy,

All the clocks in our house are at least three minutes off!

Nope, not me because the power goues out so often and my computer has dementia like me and can never remember the time, I'm sick of it. LOL

So true.Clocks or watches vary like opinions though barely by a minute or two at times.I rely on my cellphone or wristwatch for time telling. And as we belong to different time zones it won't help if I told you what time it is......😊

The same thing happens with the four clocks in my house. They are all out of sync with one another. Like you, I ballpark it.

My watch, which is solar powered, and my cellphone are in sync with one another, though. I tend to use those for most of my time telling when out of the house.

Some people do! There are several atomic clocks in the U.S., as well as one in Germany and one in the UK that I know of (there may be more), and they tell the time as accurately as is possible today. You can even buy clocks and watches that receive the signal from these clocks, so that you too would always know exactly 'what the time is'...Having said that, you know of course that time may nor exist at all...
