What is so sad about mental illness . The carer if a wife or husband or child suffers equally.

There is still a form of uneasiness expressed by those not afflicted and those who do take on the task are very often committed to a lonely and soul destroying experience.

I suppose longer life  spans  will continue to contribute to this affliction. If challenged early it does appear that drugs can slow the process or perhaps make it less noticeable by rendering a more peaceful existence for the victim and carer. I know you could express this better than I could ,I just go by my own heartbreaking experience.

i often wonder

if a large portion of the mentally ill are the homeless we see on our streets.

there are so many degrees and types of mental illness, what exactly is normal thinking?  and so many causes of mental illness, like abuse, mental , physical and emotional. and then they say it could be a chemical inbalance.

we make great strides in science, yet the human mind is the last frontier. i have always wondered where is the soul of a human, in the mind or in their hearts or both.

this post made me think and was very informative, thanks.

Remember the richmond report...Deinstitution of the mentally Ill??/ taking sick folk and putting them into group homes, some supervised, others more automic. I was teaching Nursing in Sydney and students would go to these group homes which were actually working with some chemical help for sure. of course ance again it became too expensive and now those people struggle alone or in jail.  oh and the lovely harbour view land that one Institution was built on is of course sold now to build wealthy homes.!

We still have lots and lots of people who need care and there is no way for them to get that unless they are working on precisely the same level as 'normal' whatever that is. What about the seven dead bodies and crazy chase day before yesterday by a man his family had found to behave unusual all his life and they had not been able to get satisfactory help.

What would bring us out of the prehistoric time and help them?

Things have changed a lot over the years, and in recent years, more rapidly.
