I agree with C C T. Sometimes you begin to get 'lulled' by the smooth, steady rhythm of the falling rain, only to be jarred back to reality by a sudden clap of thunder! Hard to get any real sleep that way . . .

Yes it is calming if without thunder . Trouble is one does not hear the true sound with doble glazing.
