Republibots are counting on apathy...........

Er..........actually all politicians are counting on the American public being apathetic.  And that we won't talk politics.

But the fact is also true that with as many hours as I'm expected to work to keep the large Corporate job I have, WHO HAS TIME FOR ALL OF THIS?  I mean really?  A lot of that apathy is just plain tired!  Everyone has too much going on to worry about what their Senator is doing, or their President.  Most people don't have time, and for that matter, desire until IT DIRECTLY AFFECTS THEM.

If I still drove out to the office very day, that's 2 hours, just driving.  Then facter in the 10 to 12 hr days I put in -- that leaves me with what?  A half hour to do anything with?  I mean come on!  Don't you think Corporate America tries to fill every fucking minute of your day so that you CAN'T watch what your elected officials are doing?  It's the old shill game isn't it -- 'don't let the right hand know what the left hand is doing?'

It's all perspective, and most people don't get it, because it's not painful enough to them yet.  When the shit we see coming, finally and actually gets here, these same SUPPORTERS of the Right, are going to turn on them!  And we will have what the French had --  a Revolution.  It'll be 'EAT THE RICH' -- sorry Aerosmith!

That thought really bums me out, because I do love my Mtn Dew and cable.  I like watching CNN and all of that.  But since I'm so old, and my company is sending jobs to India and China anyway, I'll probably be out of a job, and or working 3 jobs to match the wages I lost, as long as I can compete with the illegal alien, so I won't have time for MTV, and CNN.  And I certainly won't be able to keep up with politics.

Ek

I think Shawn nailed it when he said "apathy and ignorance." It's the only explanation for why Bush isn't hounded out of office. The media is spineless. Only if the public demanded Bush's ouster would they even consider telling the truth about what he has done to this country. The fat will really be in the fire if Bush is returned to the WH. The arrogance of the Republicans will know no bounds!

awesome. great comments by everybody

And Spy, the scary thing is Bush DOES have a following. There are those out there who do believe in what he's saying and are more apt maintain a tunnel vision from everything else, even listen to the propoganda which twist outside ideas into negatives. I dunno where you live, but, where I'm at... I've seen college students and the "chic clique coffee club" types with PRES.BUSH stickers on their cars and BUSH2004 signs.

Figure out a way to make them see or listen, and you  might get something... Good luck with that, though. people like DEMSareevil are so brainwashed, there's no helping them... When America is in shambles, will they still believe everything is true?

Our problem is two-fold: apathy and igorance. Apathy: most people simply don't care that the Repukes are stealing the next election well before it even occurs. They just don't care! Or, worse: they support it! Amazing, for a Party that supposedly "celebrates" freedom. Ignorance: the corporate media's first--and some say only--objective in this day and age is manipulating public opinion toward Bush. To that end they'll do anything and everything. His crimes are ignored utterly. His lies are buried on page D23. His past is gone.

Mussolini said it best: fascism is the merging of corporate with government power. This is a fascist police state. And it is only going to get worse--unless we remove these thugs, one way or another--from office.

How do we get through?

I'm afraid it takes time to convince the American people or any people for that matter that a particular political party is hazardous to their health, as is the case with the Republicans. There are three things that need to happen for this breakthrough: 1. The media starts telling the truth (not likely - they are too invested in the status quo). 2. There is a huge disaster like the Great Depression which the party in power can't evade responsibility for (this is likely in the next 5 years). 3. Some charismatic person comes along who the vast majority believe and leads America out of the Republican nightmare (no predictable date of occurring).

Hopefully we will get #3 before we get #2.

Great post spy and great question, lammieboy

Wish I had an answer. All I know is to keep trying; I'm attempting to post something from headline news sources with articles and/or links to draw more minds and attention to the plunging state of our union. With the election; "D" day - Democracy or Death, creeping closer each passing day, there is a need for all of us who are not blinded and bushwhacked to continue. Blog on!! My motivational speech for the day or week, lol.

I don't get it,

I believe as you seem to that we are on a cusp in this country, we can move  forward and join the world seeking ways to improve and enhance the lives of the entire world community or we can pursue a course of domination and exploitation, what I don't get is why blogs like yours and others that try to bring this issue out into the light are largely ignored.  I understand the chick clique coffee club that dominates the top 10 but not the level of interest that confides you and others to the hundreds.  How do we wake these people up?
