I think we all think we are kind of special and that we won't have to deal with suffering and pain like some others do. Then when those things happen to us, we are a bit stunned by it.

darling, all pain is horrible. My knees ached like bad toothache all the way home on that plane flight and I must confess i never once compared my misery to the pain Jesus suffered for me. It isn't easy to think straight when it hurts.
