What an unusual photograph.
It leads right into the poem which really holds the attention.

Pat.
Actually I burred it so deep with alcohol and drugs for such a long time (47 years) that I had forgotten about it until a question came up about such matters on a form when I finally went in for a treatment program and it all came flooding back. Of course the stroke didn't help matters. Everything turned upside down that day. I was 54 years old at the time. This is why I write about these things so much in my poetry. One might think of my writing as my repentance.

It's so full of so much. I hope writing it helped you overcome all.

I suppose it softens reality making a dream world of abuse. One never really gets over these things because one was too young when it happened. . Example all the women coming forward citing abuse by those who took advantage of their innocence. One has to live with these, in your case the untold truth which probably is harder to bear eventually than any physical pain.
