Even though he was not an owner, I cannot help but think of Matt Millen. And Al Davis actually wanted him as the GM after the Lions fired him.

This is a tough one, because most former athletes have enough money to hire people to run their teams for them, and their input is not always necessary. I'm not entirely sure if it makes that much of a difference or not . . .
