I'm sure he was, Carolyn, like all firemen are! Hopefully he never had to confront a 'Smoky" . . .

my uncle was the head of a forest fighting division in Oregon. As kids my aunts used to send us KEEP OREGON GREEN rulers with SMOKEY on them and such. Uncle Jake was a hero in his time.

Re:

Thanks, Justi. Glad you enjoyed them. And you're probably right . . . most of his ads against forest fires did sound as if he had too much 'first-hand' experience! Let's all hope he learned his lesson . . .

I kinda of thought that about Smokey the Bear, yep he just appeared to have too much information on the bad side. LOL It was fun.

Re:

I think a lot of us do, adnohr! But I thought it would be funny to reverse the scenario. I mean, who knows what may actually be going through the minds of some of these rats . . . ?

Re: JimmyA

Thanks, Sir Wiley. I would think that the funniest part of this one was the fact that two talking cats were playing tennis, let alone contemplating the source of the strings on their rackets! But, stranger exchanges have taken place . . .

Re:

Well, Utah, there were plenty of other choices around that same time period. However, I used to think the same thing about Dr. Smith on Lost In Space. How many times did he sabotage their efforts to return home? He too could have been 'bumped off' early on, giving the Robinson family a decent shot at returning to Earth. But hey, this was the '60's . . .

Re: Jimmy

Well, Naut, we all know that 'cat gut' is just an expression ( possibly derived from shortening cattle gut ). But hey, if a cat who can actually play tennis wants to question it, I say, why not let him think what he wants?

Re:

Isn't it, FSI? Most people don't think along those lines. I'm sure there have been millions of people who have gone 'mad without power.' We just never hear about them . . .

See, Kabu? Not only was I able to amuse everyone, but I was able to enlighten as well! The things ya learn . . .

Re:

Thanks, lovelylady. Glad you enjoyed them. And although I never really 'hated' Gilligan's Island, the bulk of the plot points and scenarios were a bit on the ridiculous side! Same thing with The Munsters, The Addam's FamilyMy Favorite Martian, BewitchedLost In Space and I Dream Of Jeanie. But, as kids, we still enjoyed them . . .

Haha! The 'rat race' is one I use quite often!

JimmyA

I always have a favourite:Two cats were about to begin a game of tennis. One suddenly turns contemplative, glances down at his racket, and says “Ya know, I think my dad may be in this.”

But then what would of we watched.

LOL! But you know, that cat isn't with it, unless his dad chewed the cud and said 'moo'...

That is a great point about going "mad without power."

I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS SMOKEY ABOUT THAT BEAR

Haha!  These are great Jimmy.  I'm with you regarding those exotic dishes!  Oh, and about bumping Gilligan off, too.  I hate that show!
