I'm sure all three of your reasons are valid, and hopefully Cruz has some influence on Hicks' future. But, as we all know in sports, salary and agents dictate pretty much everything. Friendships and loyalties usually end up taking a backseat to huge paychecks . . .

The salary can make it very tough for players to stay together.
