Re:

Ah, Jimmy I don't know where you live; but I start my life in Wyoming and do I remember the snow as you do.  It was a lot of fun for the first few days but after that it was packed down and hard.  Certainly a new layer was nice.  Those were the days.

Thank you for reminding me.  Great memories.

One of the things I remember most about the snow days of my youth is that there was always snow on the ground for the entire winter! We would get a significant snowfall sometime just after Thanksgiving, and that snow stayed on the ground until sometime in March! It would snow again periodically throughout December and January of course, but the temperatures never climbed above freezing, so whatever snow fell stayed around for months! Today, we get a substantial snowfall, it lasts for a few days, and then the temperatures go into the 40's, and it all melts away! Then, a week or so later, it snows again! A very strange pattern indeed . . .

I remember those school days away from the snow. Wonderful times.
