Re: SA

Naut...excellent comment. LOL, I know. I do not have a disorder, no, but I am a perfectionist which is tied to the OCD "Label". AND>Humans tend to either be impulsive, or compulsive, by nature. All humans. You don't hardly ever find a person that is BOTH impulsive and compulsive. They are one or the other...

SA

Let me say this about that – some of us are far too ready these days to slap a label on something, including the acronym, of course, and call it a ‘disorder’ or even a ‘disease.’ You like things orderly, you don’t like a mess, and even if you are a bit compulsive about it you are not suffering from a disorder.

I am somewhat compulsive about some things, and sloppy about others. So am I a ‘partial’ or ‘selective’ OCD ‘sufferer’? It’s a crock...

I will admit that there are cases that might truly be called pathological, and then we have better names for them, but yours ain’t one of those, LOL.

What we are really suffering from is an over-abundance of ‘experts’ who are spouting psycho-babble and invent nonsense ‘disorders’ to make themselves feel important and further their careers!

Oh, and by all means let your son read this...

Lust, that's sad. Everything my kids do pleases me. If they clean their rooms I am very pleased, even if it's not the way I would do it, ya know? Everything they do makes me so happy. Just for them trying. I expect perfect from myself, not my kids.

LOL, my kid is very smart. And when he learned about it at school was was like mom you're a perfectionist. It is a wonderful thing when I get stressed. I clean everything that stands still and then I feel better and my house looks great lol...and for my writing it makes me very productive. I have that extra determination because of it, so for example a deadline is easier for me to meet because I also expect from myself to meet the deadline. I expect myself to be perfect, or as close to perfect as I can possibly be. It's hard to explain. The PROBLEM with being a perfectionist is that any rational person realizes that PERFECT does not exist. I am a very rational, logical person. So, those two things are always in constant conflict. I guess it narrows down to this: It's a constant drive to always be ones best and to always have everything neat, orderly and organized...lol...

That is interesting how your son was able to diagnose you...My sister has OCD. For her, medicine has kept it under control.

I am a perfectionist in some things--in others, I couldn't care less.
