I know that the idea behind the rule changes was to reduce the risk of injuries. However, as you've said, the returners are still basically on their own when deciding to "come out" of the endzone or not! And as long as they choose to, the risk remains! So far, I don't think it has really affected the overall game that much . . .

I remember that the league was thinking about getting kickoffs and instead of having teams either punt the ball or allow them to go for it, treating it as a 4th and ten. I don't know if that will happen or not.
