We have one around the neighborhood Bill, but we don't have any chickens to worry about, so I just keep trying to get a picture of it.

we have a beautiful red fox around here sometimes. i think he keeps my turkey population down though. He never troubles us when he is about.

In my experience, it boils down to the time of day. Generally, at night, foxes will run off from a person and only attack if cornered. That is normal behavior for them. During the day, they are most likely rabid. Animal control needs to be called.
