Slowly but surely, people are learning the hard way that a politician is a politician is a politician! When they're in school, they're not learning economics, political or world history, psychology, foreign customs or affairs, diplomacy, etc. They're learning how to bullshit, get elected, spew more bullshit, and then get re-elected! And everyone keeps falling for it over and over and over and . . .

Hey haven't seen you here for ages and you know that I am a fan. I can't comment on your country except that if it starts to maffect my finances in Australia, look for steam coming from Canada. LOL

I was pleased to see a report on how many congresspeople have

declined or donated their salaries during the shut down.  If you actually dig into it a little, a fair number are sleazing around trying to look good, donating to a charity... but the charity is sometimes one that is some self-serving beast that benefits the party of the donator, more than anyone else.  And some are promises to donate, not donations.

Everyone is scrambling to look good, but it takes a closer look to see who's actually genuine.

So true! They are all being pig-headed. They're pulling the If-I-can't-have-MY-way-the-citizens-will-pay card!  Problem is: their pay is protected by the Constitution (or so I've read--I need to do my homework and research further). The American public and small-time government workers' pay--not so much covered.

You are telling it like it is. I think it is time we fire the whole lot of them until they are ready to work for us rather than staying in there getting richer and taking our money and playing golf over their snickers. I voted on the right side too but it got nowhere. Thanks for this piece it is good.
