I can only imagine!  Sometimes I work with teachers in the store - they have some amazing stories.

Naut

Fair to say.  THough I often have more sympathy for the customers than I do for the bitter employees who exhibit deep deep prejudice and bigotry.  Honestly I blame the company for not handling this better.

I agree on many points.  But the thing is the company can do more but it doesn't.  People should not have to work in that environment for up to 5 hours at a time.  And our schedules often have us getting little sleep between shifts.  And employees barely know what their schedule is going to be over the next two weeks - and even then their schedules often change.

There's usually a considerable difference in the way people act off-stage as opposed to when they're on stage, in your case the floor. But of course it does get very annoying if the other actors, the customers, don't play their roles properly...

I'm not sure what the company can actually do as a whole. Dealing with other human beings, especially irate human beings, can take its toll on anyone. Most people are forgiving and good-natured, and usually only want what they came in for. But then there's that select few who make you not only want to quit, but to reach over and smack the person before you go out. Of course you can't do that, but I understand the temptation. And one thing you've got to remember, at least realistically: the customer is always wrong . . .

The faculty lounge was a place at my high school internship where the teachers blew off a lot of steam about what happened in the classroom and outside of it.
