can look particularly clumsy because men are more likely to give the unspoken message. "I can do this alone, dammit.  Leave me alone!"  It's like our reluctance to stop and ask directions when we're lost.  But I hear you.

Re: right, FSI! At poetry open mike nights I'm afraid I give a

clumsy demonstration of that fact when it's my turn to get up on the little stage.  The 20- or 30- somethings just hop up or take a lomg step up.  Me, I look like I'm climbing a mountain.

used to say, growing old is hell but it sure beats the alternative.  I was young then and didn't really understand, but remember her saying it.

My body just usually says "no", but I keep insisting "yes" with the help of a bed rail for support and so far, most days I've won....
