beachbelle, yes some Resolutions are more important than others. Hair
colour is definitely important at my age. My real Resolutions are secret and that way they have a better chance of happening or not, but I'm left in peace. Thanks for reading and commenting. XXXOOO Abuelita

What a very lovely post. You must be a remarkable woman. I can feel the love you have for your grandkids, and the warmth of your hearth.

LadyK, I was thinking about memories and I can't remember much about what

my grandmother did with us and she lived in a house in our backyard!! She shouted us out to see sunsets and we worked on her flowers in her garden and I watched her make homemade applesauce and shoot insulin into her stomach muscles. Well, more but......

I think that they are creating memories for me to have when I hit that Big Nursing Home in the Sky. Dad made us eat UNTIL we threw up and I think that he would have wanted us to re-eat that if Mom the Saint hadn't saved us!!! GAG! Mine was kidney beans and Lima beans......yuck!

cynthia, yes Mom still lives and I should write about her and her mom.....
hard working women.....my frivolity is finally okay with my mother, in fact, she brags about it a little now. That's a good thing finally. Took her long enough!!! I look just like her, scary, except for the red spiked hair, which I dyed to have everyone stop calling me by her name. Children could not tell the difference!!

dreah, have you ever gotten a song stuck inside your brain for so long
that all other knowledge is squeezed out of that brain??!?!? That's what happened when I heard the song for the first time, it stuck and wouldn't leave. Retro, as they say, I think. Anyway, I like it and I don't like much of today's music in English.

wiley, I wish that your grandchildren were closer to you in distance.

They are better than television and more fun the more time that you get to spend with them. Personalities begin to distinguish themselves and you can predict behaviors and tease more perfectly then.

I read your stories about visiting your granddaughters during the holidays. Sounded like you needed to spend an extra day, be more rested and then be out doing something fun with the little monkeys!!! Little truth cops, they are.

Thank you for allowing me to spend a lovely day with you and the grands.

Man, could I identify with the youngest.  That was me.  I'd freak out over "yuck" food, too, and once even hit the near-barf stage.  It was over peas too, come to think of it.

What wonderful memories you have given these cousins :)

It surprised me that your mom is still alive.

Here we are two grandmas with a mother still hanging on. I'd like to hear more stories from you about that relationship. I can also picture you with all those kids.

Benzinha,
You are the most wonderful of storytellers, and now I know why I need to sleep all the time. All that you do with animals, children, family and home just leave me exhausted. And here I've been thinking I am sickly somehow. I loved all the grandkids and how wonderful are those memories you have created for them. I'm not near any of the grandkids, like 5 or 6 hours in any direction away from me, and some of them are 5 or 6 days away. So I revel in your stories, pretend I am with you watching with one eye open from under a futon cover, and when I am rested I shall get up and clean the house for ya, I'm very good at that. Happy New Year

dknowles, one resolution is to write real stories on your site.
I hope to do it soon. Thank you so much for your comment. Dad always told stories as he spoke and I try to stick to that. It works for me.

I sometimes think that my comments
are like one more snowflake in a blizzard. You have many fans and I glad I one of them. Sometimes my 'in your face' style makes it easy to lose sight of the careful, honest storytelling that is the essence of great writing. You have it.
