I agree but prefer he is not for there was a defiant, resistance to authority side of Trayvon that is not considered due to drama of race and disrespect of authority.  I am in constant conflict with friends on this.

You are right. Humans can talk it out. Bright ones can and do.

The very fact that you have bettered yourself by working so hard to help yourself, that is a big threat to some people. i too carry pain because I took myself to University and became an RN...I have had people who should have been proud just put me down, and even worse the small success i have enjoued with my writing, I have had cruel really cruel things said.

it is good to write it out and put it behind us. I fins here is mostly a loving caring and accepting spot to belong to. Real family.

I guess it boils down to people being jealous and insecure and trying to undercut the accomplishments of others.

I applaud your constructive reaction to hardship.  There is nothing funny about the Treyvon Martin situation for the defendant or the victim.  Both have gone through a bad ordeal.

I just wish that one day we could all just be American's, no hyphens, no colors, just people doing the things that people do. I injoyed your post today.

My husband's family was like that.  I stayed away from them as much as I could as they depressed me.  I tried to teach my sons to be tolerant of them, but to be different by lifting people up instead of putting them down.

You are so right.  I am dealing now with a good way to erase some of the words.  Most are control ploys, but they hang on in the conscious.  I need to put them aside. Thanks!

Just don't waste too many brain cells ( or too much time ) trying to unravel certain people's "backward logic!" Like you wrote, the concept is actually fairly simple: put down others to somehow boost your own self-esteem. The other part of the problem is that a lot of people tend to speak before they think. And negative words or comments are like a launched torpedo! Once they've been fired . . .
