DrJ

I don't pay much attention the lives of 'celebrities', and don't know what rules they're following or breaking. In creasingly, 'rules of conduct' are those defined by law - beyond those, pretty well anything goes, LOL. Unless, mind you, one breaks the rules of 'political correctness', which can also have legal cosequences, of course, particularly in Canada...

I suppose that I have broken heaps of rules, I know that I have...

Actually, unimportant rules, ones imposed by a very strict wider family and community that I broke out from.

It is interesting how far the rulebreakers get in life...Jolie is an excellent example.

Agree and thanks for the added perspective.

Unfortunately this is what our country has become thanks to LBJ's great society, paying poor women to have children outside of wedlock, the removal of God from the public square, and the destruction of the family...Great post.

I'm sure that people will feel that everyone deserves a second chance, or at least the opportunity to "redeem" themselves. That being said, if Joli has sincerely repented and changed her ways, then I guess she's free to do whatever she wishes from this point on. However, when it comes to adopting children, the household they are going into must be stable ( I always thought that was part of the criteria of adoption in the first place ). Yes, Joli and Pitt obviously have money, but do they really have the love, patience and perseverence to raise several children? That remains to be seen . . .

I tend to feel that most of the rules were simply there to make life easier for a minority of people.  So long as you keep the big ones and do no harm I am all in favour of breaking rules.
