I feel almost as stumped by this one as you must feel, although without the consequences, of course. It's an incredible mess, and maybe it would be best to drop this one and look for something else entirely...

It seems there's more to the story of this house deal than a simple transaction - some old wrangle between the so-called professionals involved.
