Thanks Jimmy... she hasn't had an easy life, and now she's lonely and frightened, for her daughter, for herself. But when she's okay, she can be quite good fun.. it's just the gloom and doom stuff I find it hard to be patient with. Thank God for grace, that I manage not to get cross with her!!

I have a friend whose mom is the same way. She's wheelchair-bound, but her phone is always with her, regardless! Please don't take this the wrong way, but the first word that comes to mind for me after reading about your mom's "attitude" is bitter. Now, whether or not that bitterness is justified is a whole other story. But from how you've described the situation, I think your only recourse at this time may be to simply thicken your skin, and try hard not to let her comments get to you . . .
