Re: jeansaw

Your are right, of course, on all points.

TAPS

When there was a much larger readership than now we got more of both kinds. It would take a very-very strong relationship to allow one's partner to edit. I do like it when there is a reply to the comments. C.C. and Lustorlove always reply. I find that interesting.

taps

i use to feel the same way about comments, that i could tell if someone really read the post or just skimmed, but i have changed my mind.

if you get a comment that is totally different than your post, it could be that the person reading that post has a totally different viewpoint, or perhaps just perceived it differently or just did not understand the post. or maybe had something on their mind and the post just put that thought into words.  i never judge a comment, especially since they took the time to post it.

Betty,

Yes, it would be.  I appreciate all of the comments that I recieve.  I often feel badly when I can't respond to each one personally.

Comments, critiques, criticisms . . . for the most part, they all fall under the category of "opinions." Some are negative, some are positive, and some are relatively neutral. But as writers we should all welcome the "feedback" of others, no matter what. And believe it or not, my wife does a lot of proofreading and editing for me! Another pair of eyes and another point of view has helped me tremendously . . .

Re: C_C_T

I always go back to read them.  Used to I would miss some because some of them would not show under "new comments" - like the one that JimmyA left for me a few minutes ago.  But, since they put this function New for me on the home page, I never miss a one.  It takes me right back to the comment I made that you are commenting back on.

its been a long time that anyone commented with criticism with me, but when I first started on her there was this guy I dont remember his name was on everyone and especially me, you probably remember him

Yes Taps I think we should all try and be more constructive in our criticism. What I really worry about is if one goes to the trouble to reply to a person's comments will that person ever go back to read them. Perhaps we could put a sign it would mean do not reply to my comment. Do you not think  that would save a lot of time? It might encourage some to carry on rather than feel frustrated by replying to comments that are just buried unnoticed.   Something like this perhaps. I am having a shower, so sorry I shall not be able to read your witty repartee as  I was becoming a bit smelly.

The thing I like best about your blogs is that there's always

a bit of meat to them, satisfying to read. You make your points so gracefully. :)

I prefer constructive criticism or suggestions to sour ones; the tone it is done in can help determine how useful it is, although a correct sour one can still improve a particular writing.

Blogit would die without comments...I love my daily read around

blogit ville. I don't very often get my dander up....a saying from my past as well...I will miss Blogit in Australia...somehow reading and leaving a message means more to me than being a critic.

No comment... (lol).  Me, I'm glad that anyone takes the time to say something, given that I'm such an irregular contributor nowadays. Love reading you, Taps.

Yes, I can tell as well just how much of an entry was read...I have not had too many bloggers disagree with the points I make.

yes the comments can be good or bad and sometimes yes you can tell if they only read part of it...all in all....i prefer a comment whether i agree or not...at least i know who took the time to click on my blog and even if they just skimmed....better than nothing...
