Re:

BC-A--

Thanks for dropping by!  Would you believe that I've just put some in the oven a little while ago.  Plan to eat them a little later along with a very warm glass of some kind of fruit ade.  I haven't decided which flavor yet.

Have A Great Day!!!

Re:

Thanks, JimmyA, for your well wishes!

Although my mom occasionally has to put up with the antics of some employees of her nursing home that shouldn't be in that profession, she is, overall, very satisfied with how she's treated.  Still, it isn't her desire--nor mine--for her to remain in a nursing home for the rest of her earthly life.

I've written a blog-entry about the website of my dreams that includes a list of characteristics describing it.

One of those characteristics is:  Earning Capabilities

As you might imagine, one of my a.s.a.p. hopes when it comes to Earning Capabilities is that I'll manage to make enough to buy at fair market value all assets listed in my mom's name that must be used in a spend-down for Medicaid eligibility now.

Sometime soon, I'm going to be writing about the quirkiness of our healthcare system in how it can force people into permanent nursing home care situations and expect them to pay for it.

I'm not against nursing homes when they're either used for rehab care or if they truly ARE the least restricted environment for an individual, but I AM against how someone like my mom could be rubberstamped as someone who could never live in her own home unless at least one RN were living in with her at all times--while, meanwhile, her property was being put up for sale to help with the expenses of keeping her in a nursing home.

One thing that REALLY irks us is how both of us were drawn to the attention of Adult Protective Services by certain "concerned" parties who either wanted to be able to buy our property on the cheap or else were friends with/co-horts of somebody who did.

Don't even get me started except to say that they waited until we were both in very vulnerable positions before they set the wheels in motion to put us into "the system."

Again, let me say that this is definitely no reflection on the nursing home where my mom now is nor am I saying that, at this particular time, she doesn't still need nursing home care.

Why she DOES need nursing home care at this time is a story within this story.

The short form of it is that certain medical decisions were made that, imo, compromised her health at a time when we could ill-afford paying for a nursing home thanks to our being involved in a scam that is now being investigated (meaning that I'm not really free to describe the nature of the scam at this time but would be more than glad to after the case has been settled).

Anyway, thanks again for your feedback and well wishes.  I'll keep you posted about our situation...

Blessings!

Greetings, Ainsley! Yes, those red-skinned potatoes sound delish, although personally I would ease up on the garlic!  I'm so glad my aging mother lives with my sister and brother-in-law. She's much more comfortable. I hope things work out with you and yours . . .
