Recent storms can provide good experience in how to prepare and respond, but naturally one never wants to undergo that to learn how to respond.  It is good to hear your recovery is going well.

Just living through the trials and loss of power during our ice storm was enough for me. I can imagine what the poor victims of the hurricanes are going through...still. That was an interesting comparison between the two events down there, FSI.

Lucky for us, we don't get hurricanes here...Just earth quakes. They say we are due for the big one...

Hurricane Sandy is going to be one of those natural events that my wife and I are going to have to try to forget about, as it was devastating for us ( 9 trees lost, yard destroyed, no power for 8 days! ) A nightmare . . .

I guess we're very lucky - we only get hurricanes so rarely that people are still talking about Hazel, which occurred long before you were born...

Yes I like it calm FS, but I suppose turbulence is part of the big scene we just have to grin and bear it, although it is sad for many.
