Re: CCT et al.

Pan I see your point and it is vaguely disturbing in a way. I am afraid I looked up your comment and I see blonde refers to woman hit this spell checker and it corrects to blond.

Humans are complex entities and I always wonder about the design, I don't think you should worry about not recieving a return comment and in future I will try not to ramble off and now you have put that damned cat in my mind and Alice is still as young as ever.

CCT et al.

There is, I think, a big problem with sites like this (and most others like it), where the line between comment and critique is blurred. Speaking in general terms, not about you or any other blogger here in particular, crits do not seem to grow in this soil and whilst it is, of course, nice to receive a comment, as an indication of who had read the post, it nevertheless is an awkward issue how to leave a meaningful comment if one has nothing meaningful to say. I may have broken new ground here recently when I pointed out in a comment, tactfully, that a fair-haired man may be a blond but unlikely to be a blonde. Never heard back. No doubt, there are many reasons for why people post here. I am still not sure about my reasons. On the one hand, if one has no readership it seems illogical to pay $13 for the privilege of posting. On the other hand, it would still seems illogical if all the 50 or 60 members who bother to post here said, “Wonderful, I loved it!” So, as you can see, I am still trying to figure out which way to go from here. Alice comes to mind when asking the Cheshire cat the same question. And no doubt you remember the next line in the story: “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.” Said the cat to Alice. - Pannonian

Hey Pan you are not giving us time to respond, sometimes I read your piece and think I will savour it later and when I come back it is entirely different. Some people come here bung twenty poems on the site and expect to recieve accolades for all of them. I am glad you said you will reply to anyone who comments, you may be surprised to learn that most people look forward eagerly to such a reaction. Of course one can always bang out greeting card if you disagree or would rather not comment. I am always amazed at the number of folk around, when I was a boy I knew most by name or sight. I said this to a man once who came from a village and he agreed, but he also knew the name of every cat and dog.
