Googling's a good idea - it can give better info and background than I can. As I recall, in classical Greek myths they were wild women who got hammered on strong wine and roamed the forests making music, enjoying nature, singing hymns to Bacchus god of wine, and attacking anyone they thought was getting in their way. A great story.

I love your style. I don't know how you come up with these poems/stories, but they're great. You really are able to capture an imaginary moment in time and put the reader there (well, it puts this reader there, at least. Lol). I really liked the one about Ulysses. Who/what is Bacchantes? See, Ima have to google it now. I love learning new things. Thanks. :-)

You can reel these off Bob. Obviously you are much older than anyone thought or you have a good memory, I don't think hot dames on cold slabs referred to these times. I quite enjoy it though.

The art of imagination and truth and The God of Vine - very interesting the way you conjure up and relate these mythological images Bob. And in answer to your question in my blog, today's poem was just something I made up when I saw the entry date in my blog as 1 day and so I relate it as A Reminder to put in a worded entry to be commented on by my writer friends here in blogit. Well for want of something to write Bob - this just cropped up.
