Re:

Hi Taps, thanks for the visit. I'm so glad you got the gist of the poem, compassion. We never think that anything "like that" can happen to us, but the reality is that it can and we should keep that in mind when we're burying our heads in the sand. How would we want people/society to act if a tragedy struck us...? Again, thank you for the visit, also, the read and comment. Your support is appreciated. Have a wonderful day.

Blessings

One never knows when tragedy will cross our paths.  Humanity must needs be ready with compassion and help.

Re:

Hi again formerstudent. Scary thought, huh? I had to write about it to control my impending obsessive fear of the thought. Have you ever seen the final destination movies? Lol, I look for the signs!

As always, I appreciate the visit, read, comment, and your support. Hope you continue to enjoy the reads. Have a wonderful day.

Blessings.

Re:

Yes, CCT, it is sad, that empathy comes from the sharing of the circumstances, but in atuality, we've all felt pain, loss, and a sense of not having control over what's taken place in our lives, which is the same feelings the victims of these tragedies must surely feel. I hope people read this poem and it prompts them to see the devatations we witness remotely on a daily basis in another light. My hope is that, at least for some or even one, to reach out to a stranger the next time we see a tragedy in progress. I guess what I'm saying is that I hope to put some sensitivity back to the things we've been so desensitized to. Thank you for the visit, read, and comment. I appreciate your support.

Re: unexpected tragedy

So true 2902, and we never know when we will be the next victim. This poem is to hopefully open peoples hearts and do what they can to help those unfortunate victims as we would want/need the help of others should we be next. Thank you for the visit, read, and comment. I appreciate your support and encouragement.

Re: CVME

Hi Ace, thank you for the visit, read, and comment. I agree with everything you said and appreciate that you got so much from my poem. It was inspired by all of mother nature's wrath as well as the tragedies I was hearing about daily on the news. It started me thinking about how fast it could happen to anyone anywhere and yes, having children of my own, my worst fear is something happening to them. I can't hear a siren go by when they're not home without saying a silent prayer that it's not one of mine and that whomever the sirens are for they are given strength to get through whatever it is that may have happened. I always pray that if anything happened in my family that the powers that be let us all go together. It would he horrible, to me, if one of us were to be taken without the rest of us. I know that may sound selfish, but I just don't know if I would have the strength some have to go on without my children and I think of the impact it would have on them if something unexpected and tragic were to happen to me. My children and i are very close and I can't imagine anyone of us left on this earth without the other, barring natural causes.

Again, thank you for the visit and your continued support of my writings. Hope you continue to enjoy. :-)

Sadly not many can hold these pictures and feel reality, empathy only comes when one is sharing the bruises or dealing with them a good poem reflecting reality.

unexpected tragedy

Victims get up that morning unaware that this will be their day - by sundown their life has been ended or turned upside down, blindsided.

CVME

SO, SO, TRUE!  I look at my children daily and thank GOD that I am able to provide and protect them.  This is not probably, but it is my worst fear!  What people need to realize is that children and people in general, battle this type of horrible life right here in the U.S.A.  Edgar Allen Poe said that "melloncholly" (in his opinion) was or would be the death of a beautiful, young woman.  While this is sad, I believe the picture you have posted with this piece, is the "poster" for melloncholly.  How much more helpless and how much more pitiful can this world get than that?  The closest we will ever get to GOD before we die is by infants, children, innocense.  Look into your childs eyes without saying a word for as long as possible.  To me, THIS IS GOD. Nice post.  Ace.
