Re: Your post

We have a lot in common - my wife is crippled with MS, and I've been caring for her for close to 35 years.  The more I find out about my dad, his raunchy sense of humor, and his devotion to my poor nutty mom, the more I wonder at his character and stability.

Your post

I loved your post. I'm 52. My Dad passed 18 yrs ago, my mom passed in '03, and my grandmother passed in '07. I have my two children, whom are almost grown (18 & 15) and I have recently remarried. What I have learned is that sharing your life with the ones you love, is a very precious gift. One they may not even recognize as so valuable until after you have passed (sorry). I wished I'd had the wisdom to delve into my dad and mom's life while they were alive. I didn't realize how precious knowing them, thus knowing myself, was until much later. I took care of my grandmother for 2yrs before she passed and I took the opportunity to learn as much as I could about her life, her childhood, her parents, her children (my mom, aunts & uncle), and her experiences as I could. I will carry that with me and pass it on to my children. Keep writing and sharing your most precious gift. Sincerely, thank you. :-)

Re: Re: Re: the Zihua City Showboats

You are taking entirely too light-hearted a view of the matter, CC!  Training wheels for the three-legged race indeed!  (Where did you buy them?)

Re: the Zihua City Showboats

So, what do I do with all those pennants and T-shirts I ordered?  Maybe we can use them for the poetry olympics at Camp Blogit ...

A thrilling moment I am sure for the kids too and yes definitely moments to remember.

Thank you monsieurs BOB and CCT for the comments in my blog - made me laugh. Well BOB,Zihua City is made up and I thought it sounded chinese and hence my comment to CC. Anyway since you googled it and found it not, I breathe a sigh of relief. Just imagine if there was such a place - Gosh I'd probably invite a few sarcastic comments from China!!

Re: aboard the Clearwater

Accoommodations were pretty basic, I was told - we weren't invited below decks, either. It was a warm spring, as I remember, and there was, of course no AC.  I can't imagine that they didn't do some simple ablutions oner the rail with river water once the sun went down.

Re: a golden memory

That's what it is, all right.  It was a field trip I didn't want to miss.

Napoleon said THAT?  I bet Josephine arranged for Waterloo.  If you need company on the plank, I'm available.
