LOL!

I can't tolerate fake cream in my coffee...actually I can't tolerate anything richer than 2% milk in my coffee.

Isn't it funny how our tastes change?

I read this poem over and over and each time I feel a little deeper and deeper into it. It is truly a wonderful piece, and when I am done typing out this comment I will go back and read it again...Somehow it touches me.

I liked how you tied in the memories and the effects of too much real sugar! I drink mine black, always have, always will cuz, it's about coffee for me and not the additivies that could cause me to be unable to button of my jeans, too! This was a delightful read! sam

Re: Thanks, so much adnohr. One word makes a hell of a difference. :-)

And I guess the 'alone' was added before I came in here....so I went back to read it to see the difference. Good move - very nice poem, especially for someone with writer's block!

Wow!

I'd add one word. "alone."  "but now here I am, alone, drinking coffee..."

I love the way you used coffee as symbolic of communion. Write on.
