There are probably two ways to look at this: 1) you do make good points, but it would only make sense to get another job if one were to leave the present company; 2) when work is not available and the employer doesn't stop the individual from getting the benefits and wants to ensure that they are available for a deployment then it could be cost effective because these folks know the ins and outs as it were! I see this as a stop gap measure that serves both parties very well! I know this does work from the standpoint of when my son was a commercial fisherman. He drew unemployment between fishing seasons, was able to pay his bills, and be available for the next run to sea! So, there is a straw that breaks the camel's back but which straw it becomes is the hidden entity for me! sam

I like your way of thinking and definitely agree.  I have never applied for unemployment, never been fired.  I have quit places at times, but done what was necessary to get a job to take its place.  My Dad's work ethic was definitely instilled in me.   I do believe in nice severance packages.  LOL

well done I prefer your ethical attitude and I am hoping that you get

enough work in a year to cover the expenses. Good for you.
